Ontario Behavioral Insights Unit

Ontario’s Behavioural Insights Unit is part of the Centre of Excellence for Evidence-Based Decision Making, in the Treasury Board Secretariat. The Centre of Excellence for Evidence-Based Decision Making works with ministries to assess how programs are performing, using evidence to inform choices and lead change in critical public services. As part of these efforts, the BIU’s behavioural scientists and policy advisors work collaboratively with ministries and the broader public sector to apply the knowledge and methodologies of behavioural science. This includes the design and prototyping of interventions, as well as quantitative evaluations. In 2018, the BIU continues to focus on key policy areas, such as advancing the goals of the Poverty Reduction Strategy, improving the health and well-being of Ontarians; and optimizing digital services to make online channels more visible and user friendly.
